Rescuers were called away from a training exercise to find a dying walker.

The operation on Ben More, near Crianlarich, involved members of the Killin Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) and a coastguard rescue helicopter from Prestwick.

KMRT members were already in the area when police issued an alert around 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Later, the helicopter crew helped transport rescuers and equipment up the hill.

When the team discovered the critically injured casualty, they began providing first aid.

Despite their best efforts, the walker died on the hill.

A KMRT spokesman said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the individual, and we offer them our sincerest condolences.

“Equally, our thoughts are with the team members who were involved and assisted with this tragic incident.”
