- Christine Jardine calls for an investigation into Nadhim Zahawi’s tax affairs.
- Zahawi no longer serves on the Cabinet.
- But continues to serve as an MP in Stratford-on-Avon.
The announcement of Nadhim Zahawi‘s dismissal as the Conservative Party head is receiving more feedback.
After the sacking, Liberal Democrat MP Christine Jardine said an investigation was needed into “what was known, and when” about Zahawi’s tax affairs.
Zahawi must resign from his position as an MP, she added.
Though Zahawi no longer serves on the Cabinet, the prime minister’s top team of ministers, he continues to serve as an MP in Stratford-on-Avon, where he garnered a strong majority in the most recent election.
After being fired, Zahawi promised Rishi Sunak in a letter that he would continue to defend the prime minister from the opposition benches.
