ISLAMABAD: Strong earthquake jolts were felt in Islamabad and other parts of the country on Sunday.
As per National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC), the quake’s epicentre was near Tajikistan. The earthquake’s depth was 150km, and its magnitude on the Richter scale was 6.3.
The earthquake jolts were also felt in Rawalpindi, Murree, and other parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Initially, there was no report of damage from earthquake.
It was reported that several neighboring countries including Iran, India, and other regions also witnessed severe tremors.
The people came out of their houses after strong earthquake by reciting Kalma e Tayyaba.

Earlier on Jan 19, 2023, an earthquake of five point six magnitude on Richter scale was felt in Peshawar and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the epicenter of the earthquake was thirty-seven kilometers West of Chitral, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. No loss of life and property was reported.
