Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann are the creators of the HBO post-apocalyptic drama television series The Last of Us. The series, which is based on the 2013 computer game created by Naughty Dog, takes place 20 years after a widespread fungal infection brought on by a mutation in the species Cordyceps that began a pandemic worldwide.
The disease transforms its victims into aggressive, cannibalistic creatures that resemble zombies. Ellie, a teenage girl, is being escorted across a post-apocalyptic United States by Joel (Pedro Pascal), a smuggler. Among the guest stars are Nico Parker as Sarah, Joel’s daughter, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Merle Dandridge as Marlene, and Anna Torv as Tess, Joel’s smuggling partner.
