GUJRAT: A case has been lodged on Tuesday against more than 250 inmates over creating anarchy at the district jail in Gujrat, Bol News reported.
Police included seven clauses in the FIR including attempted murder, interference in government matters, vandalizing public property. The case has been lodged at Civil Lines police station on behalf of Muhammad Latif, the deputy superintendent jail.
The incident took place after the prison building along the entire country plunged into darkness as the electricity supply system faulted at the national grid. Police said the miscreants got enraged and took benefit of the dark to spoil environment of the jail.
At least five prison employees, four lock up workers and few police officials got injured during the anarchy.

Police said hundreds of prisoners burnt public properties including watch tower, mobile jammers, furniture, record, grain storage house, hospital, medicines and other things.
Meanwhile, the federal cabinet on Tuesday ordered the authorities concerned for formulation of a comprehensive strategy to prevent the recurrence of prolonged power outages in the future and to do away with the factors causing it.
The cabinet, in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, also approved a nationwide public awareness drive on conservation of power, water, gas and other resources to make the people develop such habits.
The meeting also called for inclusion of the subject of best international practices on energy conservation in the educational curriculum.
It was told that energy conservation efforts at public, private, domestic and commercial level would help reduce the import bill of the petroleum products which had increased remarkably during last seven years.
