Parminder Singh, a former managing director of Google, recently shared two endearing stories on Twitter. In his first tweet, he related how, as a young child, a stranger saved his life in a vehicle accident; all he knows about the man is that “he was wearing a silver HMT.” He explained how “Microsoft bailed out Google” at the Bali airport in another tweet. Both tweets have received a lot of attention and encouraged people to share their acts of kindness.
“When I was a kid, a stranger saved me from getting crushed by a reversing Ambassador car by lifting me up and putting me out of its way. All I know about him is he was wearing a silver HMT watch. What’s the kindest thing a complete stranger has done for you?” wrote Parminder Singh on Twitter.

He related a further incidence in his own tweet-reply. “Bali airport had a departure tax,” he tweeted. In IDR; paid. I was flying out after a Google offsite and had no cash with me. Behind me, a woman payed for me. She resisted my insistence that I use my credit card to purchase something for her. It turned out she was employed at Microsoft. At least Microsoft saved Google here!
I’m overwhelmed, and a bit emotional, with all the stories of kindness shared here. I have always believed in the inherent goodness of human beings. Sharing positive stories matters because goodness is contagious. As Khalil Gibran said… pic.twitter.com/RBAuwqjK0k

His original tweet has received more than 1.3 lakh views since it was shared, and the numbers are rising. Additionally, the tweet gained over 560 likes and numerous comments from internet users. Here are some responses to the post from users: “I was riding alone in a car in Pune when I had a seizure and passed out. The auto driver and a female bystander drove me home (the auto guy knew where I lived because he was usually at my regular auto stand). One person recalled, “I woke up in my living room with them quite worried about me.
“Mom and dad got into an automobile accident. Mom was seriously hurt, and dad passed away instantly. Some young men were in route to college. They extricated my parents from the wrecked automobile, took my mother to the nearest hospital, and then left. Never met them, but will always be grateful for saving my mother,” a different person said. “I arrived in Yamuna Nagar by myself in the middle of the night. not a mobile. I was taken home to his family by my old Sardarji uncle. made me share a bed with his child. A chini (sugar) paratha, chai, and a rickshaw were given to me in the morning, and they then dropped me off at my destination. One more remarked, “The only thing I remember is his red turban.
“I was grieving a loss when I arrived at the Pune airport, and as I sat in a crowded restaurant, tears began to pour. With her children at the table next to her, the woman approached and ran her fingers through my hair in the manner of a mother, adding with a strong Malayali accent, “Sab theek ho jayega (all will be fine)”. It really meant a lot to me,” wrote a fourth. “I tripped over on a Bombay local train due to the crowdedness. When the train started to slow down, my foot slipped. I can still remember falling and going unconscious. I was surrounded by ladies when I woke up, and one of them told me that another woman had saved me from falling to the tracks in an instant.
“I was 21 years old and, after getting trapped in traffic in Hyderabad, I missed my way home. I approached a man on a scooter for directions as it was becoming dark and I was new to the city. He told me and then began to follow me. A fifth person said, “I was afraid. After a time, someone overtook me, stopped me, displayed his CBI ID, and guided me to a road that I knew.
He responded on his popular Twitter thread an hour ago after his tweets received a lot of attention, writing, “Reading these lovely stories (thanks for sharing! ), it’s evident that kindness transcends race, religion, or class barrier. Everyone can empathize. According to the Chinese calendar, today marks the start of the year of the rabbit, which stands for peace and reflection. Happy Year of the Rabbit to you!
