- Caretaker CM selection remains unresolved
- The committee so far unable to start consultation
- PML-N provided the names with delay of 22 hours
LAHORE: The selection of the caretaker CM Punjab remains hanging as the parliamentary committee for the appointment has not yet started the consultation over the matter.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has submitted the names of the nominees late causing the delay in the consultation process.
The opposition sent the names to the speaker at 8:00 pm last night with a delay of nearly 22 hours. The names of Malik Ahmed Khan, Malik Nadeem Kamran and Hasan Murtaza were provided for the caretaker CM.
Meanwhile, the ruling coalition proposed the names of Mian Aslam Iqbal, Raja Basharat and Hashim Jawan Bakht.
The parliamentary committee will start the consultation over the matter today.
Notably, the matter of the caretaker CM selection remained unresolved between the ruling coalition and the opposition which is why the matter was then referred to the committee.
The outgoing CM Pervaiz Elahi and Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz failed to reach a conclusion over the selection.
The development emerged after CM Punjab dissolved the assembly at the instructions of PTI Chief Imran Khan.
