Member Election Commission Nisar Durrani has remarked in the case of scrutiny of funding of political parties that the Election Commission (ECP) is a constitutional institution and is not a slave of any political party.
The four-member commission chaired by member Nisar Durrani held a hearing on the issue of scrutiny of funding of political parties, during which lawyer Naveed Anjum appeared before the Election Commission on behalf of Amir Mehmood Kayani.
During the hearing, the Election Commission said that 13 political parties have submitted their responses and 3 political parties are yet to submit the reply including MQM and PML-Q.
During the hearing, Shah Khawar’s assistant lawyer was late to which the bench remarked that the people do not take the commission seriously.
He remarked that the Election Commission is a constitutional body, it is not a slave of any political party and if the lawyer does not appear, this case should be dismissed.
Later, the hearing of the case was adjourned till January 25.
