Lahore: The first Pakistan Football Summit was held in Lahore at a local hotel in the presence of the FIFA and AFC delegations, who observed and evaluated the work of the FIFA-appointed Normalization Committee headed by Mr Haroon Malik, BOL News reported.

They deemed it to be satisfactory and pledged their unwavering support for the development and promotion of football in Pakistan.

The delegation made up of Purushottam Kattel, Head of the South Asia Unit (AFC), Andrei Vashkevich, Regional Office Development Coordinator (FIFA), and Rolf Tanner, Head of MA Governance (FIFA), received a thorough explanation of the problems with Pakistani football from Chairman NC Haroon Malik and member Shahid Niaz Khokhar.

In addition to the NC members, football stakeholders Saud Hashimi and Haris Azmat were present for the debate. After a lengthy and productive session at the Summit, the delegation expressed its pleasure with the work being done by the Normalisation Committee for football in Pakistan.

PFF NC Chairman Haroon Malik spoke at the event and said: “In the 74 years of Pakistan’s history, the things, we have been doing now, never executed by anyone else.”

“There is no record of clubs in the Football Federation and there is a dire need to systemize it once it is done in a systemised way, the same clubs will be part of the FIFA family and our talented footballers can be picked up by any big club of Asia and the world. That day will be the historic day of Pakistan’s history and from that day onward, Pakistani footballs can be seen in action exhibiting their prowess in world’s big football leagues.”

“Right now, we are trying to complete the database of football according to the PFF Constitution while the elections of the Pakistan Football Federation will be conducted in 165 days after the scrutiny of the clubs. Everything is going on in the right direction and moving rightly towards the elections, which will be held in a fair and transparent manner by the PFF NC.”

The NC chairman noted that the FIFA Council alone has the power to determine whether to expand the Normalization Committee’s mandate based on the recommendations of the FIFA and AFC delegation.

Shahid Niaz Khokhar, an NC member, expressed his opinions by stating that Pakistan was the first country to launch the FIFA Connect program. “This is the first step toward the PFF elections being public, and clubs won’t just exist on paper now. Instead, a solid foundation will be used to build the structure of football, and Pakistan will emerge from the depths of its long-standing issues thanks to transparent elections.
