Police forms committee to probe Latif Afridi’s murder

PESHAWAR: Police have formed a fact-finding committee to investigate the murder of  former Supreme Court Bar Association president Abdul Latif Afridi.

Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Investigation will lead the investigation to probe the lapses in the killing of the senior lawyer who was shot dead in the bar room of the Peshawar High Court Bar Association.

A case has been registered at Central police station. The FIR was registered in the complaint of the victim’s student Sangeen Advocate under murder clauses.

The complainant said the allegedly killed Amjad Afridi was present with Latif at the time of the incident. He said the suspect was disguised a lawyer and opened fire with a pistol as soon as Latif entered the bar room.

In a tragic incident, former President SBCA and senior lawyer Abdul Latif Afridi was shot dead in the bar room of Peshawar High Court Bar Association.

According to police, the senior lawyer received six bullet injuries and was rushed to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police said the alleged killer was arrested on the spot and shifted for interrogation. The motive behind the murder can’t be immediately ascertained.

The lawyer’s community strongly protested against the killing and boycotted court proceedings over the incident. They demanded an inquiry on how a weapon was brought in the bar room .

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan has condemned the murder of senior lawyer Abdul Latif Afridi and termed the incident sorrowful.

He expressed his profound grief and sorrow over the incident and prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family for bearing the loss with fortitude.
