On Tuesday, January 10, after days of controversy as charges against people including Prince William and Queen Camilla made headlines, Prince Harry’s explosive new book, Spare, finally reached the shops in the UK.

The Duke of Sussex provides insight into his life, including the most heartbreaking moments as when he learned of the passing of his grandfather, who he claims was essential to his entire existence, with “raw, unflinching honesty.”

After Prince Philip’s burial on April 17, 2021, Harry remembers going back to Frogmore Gardens, which is a half-mile from Windsor Castle, in the commencement of the biography he co-wrote with ghostwriter J. R. Moehringer.

The longest-serving consort passed away on April 9 of that year at the age of 99, two months shy of turning 100.

Prince Harry told of how he had travelled back to what was once going to be his “forever home” 15 months after he and Meghan Markle announced they were stepping back from their roles as senior royals.

The 38-year-old recalled how he woke up to 32 missed calls in the days prior to the burial before having a “brief, heart-racing” conversation with his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
