- Prince Harry’s memoir “Spare” in high demand for the book’s French edition.
Only two days after the book’s release, Paris-based publishing house Fayard had to produce 130,000 extra copies due to high demand for the French edition of Prince Harry‘s candid memoir,’Spare’, a business representative told Reuters on Thursday.
The representative stated, “This comes on top of the 210,000 copies initially printed,” adding that further copies may be printed based on demand.
Fayard wasn’t yet able to provide a precise sales figure.
The spokeswoman claimed that at this point, new orders for “Le Suppleant,” the French version of “Spare,” were 20% higher than for the first volume of former U.S. President Barack Obama’s memoir, a blockbuster book released in 2020.
Harry reveals in the book that he had begged his father not to wed Camilla, who is currently the queen consort. The book also disclosed that William, the heir to the throne’s older brother, had accidentally knocked him over during a violent quarrel.
More than 1.4 million copies of the memoir were sold in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom on its first day, according to Penguin Random House, the book’s international publisher, earlier this week.
Following the book’s release on Thursday, Britain’s King Charles and Prince William made their first public appearances. They avoided bringing up the incident in public.
