KARACHI: Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem ur Rahman addressed a press conference regarding the alleged conspiracy to delay local bodies elections.
The Election Commission of Pakistan and the Sindh government have said that local bodies elections will be held on 15th January.
“Whether it is Governor House, CM House or Bahadurabad (MQM bastion), all are conspiring to postpone the local bodies elections. With an impression given that constituencies have not been marked. If 10 parties have become one, then no one has any disagreement. If MQM and its factions are talking about taking on the government, then who is giving them power?” he asked.
Pointing towards MQM’s threatening to block Shahra e Faisal in protest against the LB polls, Naeem said, as “the election commission is calling for the army and rangers, so where did such parties, which have been rejected by the people, have such courage? We will see how these elections will not be allowed.”

He further said, “these are the people who have exploited the mahajirs (urdu speaking) the most. These same people have killed the migrants in large numbers and packed their bodies in sacks. There are some people who are backing them. Take note of this statement by the Army Chief and the MQM government. If they have the guts, go to the people and ask for their votes. Jamaat-e-Islami will not allow any conspiracy to succeed. Both People’s Party and MQM are killing the people of Karachi at night. Due to the continuous defeat in the elections, they want to take the escape route.”
“If the government had tried to make MQM’s conspiracy successful, we will conspire everywhere. Where was the twist of constituencies when Imran Khan came to Karachi? Why did constituencies not arise on the occasion of regime change? People of Karachi and Hyderabad are being exploited for 35 years. According to the public opinion survey, the people of Karachi have rejected the PPP and MQM,” he concluded.
