HYDERABAD: A court sentenced a man to death for torturing and murdering his wife after a domestic dispute, BOL News reported.
A court sentenced the accused Umar Khalid Memon to death for killing his wife Qurat-ul-Ain Baloch. He has also been ordered to pay a fine of one million rupee
Umar Memon had brutally tortured and killed his wife Qurat-ul-Ain alias Ainy Buledi, a mother of four, in Barrage Colony area of Hyderabad in July 2021.
Umar Khalid Memon is a son of a former irrigation secretary while his wife was the sister of forest official Sanaullah Buledi.
Police arrested Memon for the murder of his wife after a First Information Report (FIR) was registered on the complaint of the victim’s brother Asadullah Buledi at the Baldia Police Station in Hyderabad.
He alleged the accused tortured his wife for several hours which resulted in her death on 15 July 2021. The victim’s brother said that his sister had returned home several times during her 10 years of marital life to avoid abuse at the hands of her husband.
The victim’s postmortem report the body was full of bruises on her face, cheek, nose, and lower chin. The matter was raised after an outcry on social media calling for justice for the victim.
Sindh government had assured the family of Quratulain Baloch of bringing the perpetrator behind her murder to justice irrespective of his influence
Sindh Minister for Women Development Shehla Raza had visited the home of Baloch and said that she was horrified by the murder. She said even their neighbours testified regarding the torture faced by the woman at the hands of her husband
She had assured the family of justice and said no one could evade justice while using influence in the case. She vowed the murderer will not be spared at any cost.
