The popular British television series Luther, which starred Idris Elba as a tormented investigator for five seasons, will soon get a long-awaited feature-length sequel called Luther: The Fallen Sun, which will debut in March. In order for there to be a crime that needs to be solved, there must also be a villain, and Andy Serkis plays that role in this sequel. As the movie’s premiere draws near, Netflix has released a new image that gives us a glimpse of the menacing antagonist who will face off against Elba’s Luther.
GamesRadar just revealed a fresh shot of Serkis playing wealthy David Robey. Robey can be seen in the picture staring at his phone while dressed in a dressing gown and standing in what may be described as an opulent and luxurious flat with a stunning view. Whiskey and a pair of damaged statues, one with wings, are located opposite Rodey. Robey is not the kind of character one should aspire to be like, despite his sleek exterior, which exudes riches and power. Robey is a serial killer terrorizing the city; he employs technology to eavesdrop and gather data, which he then utilizes as leverage for blackmail.
The single story of Luther: The Fallen Angel will start off where the series ended. Alice Morgan (Ruth Wilson), Luther’s adversary and friend, had perished while Luther was imprisoned and in handcuffs. Our undercover detective will break out of prison and become the long arm of the law as a result of the serial killings committed by Robey outside of prison. Elba does make an effort to provide his own interpretation of his new objective in the film, previously declaring, “He enjoys the thought of being able to say, “I know what it is,” if you and I had a significant secret we wanted no one to know. I need you to do this for me, please.”
I don’t think I’ve come across something quite this dark in a long time, Serkis said in a statement regarding the new role he will play. The Lord of the Rings and Andor actor also mentioned that when he first read the script, he felt like taking a shower. Robey, played by Serkis, will focus on the purportedly private information that people possess and divulge online. Robey is keeping an eye out for opportunities as the current world is heavily reliant on technology.
Luther: The Fallen Sun is a highly anticipated Netflix offering. Dermot Crowley, who reprises his role as DSU Martin Schenk in the franchise, and Cynthia Erivo both appear in the movie.
