Allentown Band to perform at Carnegie Hall

Ronald Demkee, the band’s director, announced in a news release that the band has been asked to play the showcase event at the New York Wind Band Festival at Carnegie Hall.

Tuesday, March 7 at 8 p.m. is the scheduled time for the New York City performance.

High school, college, and adult bands from throughout the United States and Europe compete in the three-day judged competition. The band stated that the showcase performance will serve as its climax.

The Allentown Band will play the festival’s flagship event for the fourth time, following appearances in 2009, 2016, and 2019.

The band is selling a small number of concert tickets and providing round-trip charter bus service from the Allentown Fairgrounds for those who wish to attend. You can purchase bus tickets and reservation forms online or by calling 610-434-7026.

The Allentown Band, which draws musicians from a 50-mile radius around the Lehigh Valley, is the oldest civilian performance band in the United States. Since 1828, the troupe has been giving performances.
