Wynonna Judd admitted she sensed “something wasn’t right” with her mother, Naomi just a few weeks before her devastating 2022 suicide.
In her “Making Space” podcast, Hoda Kotb quoted Wynonna, 58, as saying of their final performance together at the CMT Awards on April 2, 2022, “She was really fragile.”
The Judds performer said, “I sensed something wasn’t right in terms of her being off a little bit, a little nervous.”
Wynonna added that she saw her mother’s anxiety while they sang their popular song “Love Can Build a Bridge” together.
She remarked, “I guess it’s because she hadn’t sung in a long time.
Wynonna said, “And I think as our parent’s age, their world gets smaller. And even though she never arrives late, she did that evening. I believe she was anxious.
The singer of “No One Else on Earth” was astounded by her mother’s peculiar wig.
“No, I don’t want to give her a hug or comfort her was my initial thinking. That was the dynamic of our connection, she recalled, adding, “I want to pull her wig off. It was both hard and soft.

She continued, “I’m pleased I did that because that was our final performance as a group. I guess my point is, “I’m grateful I didn’t stay caught in my perfectionism.”
Naomi, 76, passed away from a self-inflicted gunshot wound less than a month later. The 76-year-old singer had long battled depression and anxiety in the open.
