Adam Rich has passed away. He was most remembered for his role in “Eight Is Enough.” He was 54.

A family member confirmed that the actor passed away on Saturday at his home in the Los Angeles region.

A law enforcement source informed the publication that Rich was discovered lifeless by an anonymous person who came to his home. Although the cause of death has not yet been determined, there was allegedly no foul play, the source added.

Rich, who was born on October 12th, 1968 in Brooklyn, New York, became well-known in the 1970s after playing Nicholas Bradford in the television show “Eight Is Enough,” the youngest son of the Bradford family.

The ABC program, which ran from 1977 to 1981, also starred Dick Van Patten, Lani O’Grady, Connie Needham, Grant Goodeve, and others.

In an interview with Stephen J. Abramson for the Television Academy Foundation in 2011, Van Patten, who passed away in 2015, remarked of his former co-star, “I think he’s why the program was a great success.”

People praised him: Because of him, [fans] named a child Nicholas and everything else, he continued. He was adorable and a skilled actor. He was really unforced.

Other TV appearances by Rich include “Baywatch,” “Code Red,” “Dungeons & Dragons,” “Small Wonder,” and “St. Elsewhere.”

Rich’s struggles with substance misuse over the years have garnered headlines in addition to his work as an actor. He was detained in 1991 for breaking a pharmacy window to get narcotics, but Van Patten, his old TV father, helped him get out on bond.

Rich spent years in and out of rehab until being arrested once more in 2002 on suspicion of DUI after coming dangerously close to colliding with a California Highway Patrol vehicle. Rich reportedly told reporters at the time, “I’ve been sober for 10 years,” and refuted the accusations.
