After a horse strayed into a road in County Monaghan, Republic of Ireland, a man in his 40s lost his life in a car accident.
Around 21:20 GMT on Saturday, it occurred on the northbound lane of the N2 close to Carrickmacross.
The man was in the front seat of the car and was declared dead there.
Two additional males who were in the automobile also received treatment there and did not require hospitalization.
The accident also claimed the life of the horse.
While a forensic investigation of the scene is being conducted, the road has been shut off.
Anyone who observed the crash or possesses dashcam video is asked to contact the Garda (Irish police).
