‘No role’ for Prince Harry at King Charles’ coronation

  • Prince Harry will have “no role” in King Charles’ coronation.
  • He will travel back to the UK to witness his father officially ascend to the throne.
  • King planning to eliminate the requirement that royal dukes kneel to pay tribute.

The Duke of Sussex has refused to say whether he will travel back to the UK to witness his father officially ascend to the throne in a ceremony at Westminster Abbey on May 6. If he does, he will only be present as a spectator.

The king is reportedly planning to eliminate the requirement that royal dukes kneel to “pay tribute” before touching the crown and kissing the monarch’s right cheek.

It has already been made known that Charles intends to scale back the rite. Instead, only Prince Williams, his eldest son and the successor to the kingdom, will carry out the custom.

A source told the Sunday Times newspaper: “As things stand, there is no role for Harry in the service.”

While Harry has refused to confirm if he’ll be at the coronation, insiders believe he will be there.

A source said: “It is an important moment for Harry’s father and he would want to show his respect.”
