In his book, Harry claimed that he was not his brother’s best man at his wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011.
The Duke claimed that this was a “barefaced lie,” and that the actual best men were James Meade and Thomas Van Straubenzee.
Both served as ushers at the wedding, and William reciprocated at Thomas’ wedding in 2013.
“Willy didn’t want me giving a best man’s speech,” Harry said.
Van Straubenzee, a businessman, is Princess Charlotte’s godfather and has two children with his wife Lucy.
Thomas and William were classmates at Ludgrove Preparatory School.
The couple has a close relationship with the royals and has been invited to Sandringham for church in July 2020.
Charlie Thomas, Thomas’ brother, was an usher at Harry and Meghan’s wedding in 2019, and Harry was reportedly best man at his wedding to Daisy Jenks.
