After the arrest of a son of infamous Mexican drug lord “El Chapo,” confrontations in the state of Sinaloa resulted in the deaths of three security personnel.
Ovidio Guzmán-López was apprehended in Culiacán and brought to Mexico City. He is thought to be the current commander of his father’s former cartel.

According to Defence Minister Luis Cresencio Sandoval, Mr. Guzmán-López, also known by his alias “The Mouse,” is charged with running a division of his father’s infamous Sinaloa cartel. It is one of the world’s biggest organisations involved in drug trafficking.

Gunfire struck the fuselage of a jet Thursday morning as it was getting ready to take off from Culiacán to Mexico City, according to Mexican airline Aeromexico.
It claimed that no clients or staff members had suffered injury. In what looks to be a social media video, passengers can be seen hunched down and trembling in their seats.
According to David Tellez, a passenger aboard the aircraft, “as we were speeding for takeoff, we heard gunshots extremely near to the jet, and that’s when we all threw ourselves to the floor.”
According to Mexico’s civil aviation authority, an air force aircraft was also struck near Culiacan.
Next week, US Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to travel to Mexico for a summit of North American leaders. According to a tweet from Mexico’s Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard, he will now arrive on Sunday, one day sooner than originally anticipated. He didn’t explain why he was coming early.

According to the US State Department, he and his brother Joaqun are currently in charge of eleven methamphetamine production facilities in the state of Sinaloa that produce 1,300 to 2,200 kilogrammes (3,000 to 5,000 pounds) of the drug each month.
Additionally, they have stated that evidence suggests Mr. Guzmán-López ordered the killings of informants, a drug dealer, and a well-known Mexican singer who declined to perform at his wedding.
The US offered a reward of up to $5 million (£4.2 million) in December for information that would result in the capture and/or conviction of Mr. Guzmán-López and three of his brothers, who are believed to have retained their positions of authority within the gang.
