- Prince Harry’s book Spare has been leaked.
- Excerpts reveal the brothers’ altercation over Meghan Markle came to be.
- New book details an alleged physical altercation between William and Harry.
The most stunning revelation from the leaked excerpt of Prince Harry’s book Spare is how the brothers’ reported violent altercation over Meghan Markle came to be. At Nottingham Cottage in 2019, Harry alleges he was trying to talk to Prince William about the “whole rolling catastrophe” of their deteriorating relationship when William allegedly “attacked” him.
Harry claims that William told him not to inform “Meg” about this and asserted, “I didn’t attack you, Harold,” in a book excerpt that was leaked.
The Duke explained that he delayed telling Meghan right after and instead spoke to his therapist. He then told his wife what had happened after she noticed the “scrapes and bruises,” according to the Duke.
Despite the rigorous pre-launch security, a reputed newspaper said that it was managed to get a copy of Spare five days before the explosive tell-all autobiography is set to be released, while a tabloid newspaper discovered a copy for sale in Spain.
So far, Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace have declined to comment on the leaks from Harry’s book.
Harry claims William grabbed him by the collar and pulled his necklace before knocking him to the ground, resulting in a visible injury to his back.
“(William) shouted me another name, then charged at me,” Harry writes. It all happened so quickly. So quickly. He grabbed my collar, ripped my necklace, and threw me to the ground.
“I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”
William allegedly went on to describe Meghan as “difficult,” “rude,” and “abrasive,” statements Harry claimed were based on “the press narrative” about his wife.
According to The Guardian, Harry then accused his brother of acting like an heir, failing to comprehend why his younger brother was not content to be a spare.
Insults were exchanged, with William claiming he was attempting to assist and Harry responding:”Are you serious? Help me? Sorry – is that what you call this? Helping me?”
The Duke stated that the remark enraged William, who cursed while stepping toward him, terrifying him, with Harry entering the kitchen and William following.
“Willy, I can’t speak to you when you’re like this,” Harry writes, handing his brother a glass of water.
He then describes how William called him a different name and “then came at me,” all of which happened “extremely quickly” before the claimed physical incident.
The Duke says that William urged him to fight back, invoking childhood fights, but he resisted, and William departed before returning, looking remorseful and apologetic.
The book also reveals how the brothers address one other “Charles appealed with his sons during a tense meeting following the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral: “Please, guys. Don’t ruin my last few years.”
