For the 2023 round of the Asia Cup, Pakistan and India will compete against each other in the same group. Jay Shah, the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), shared the news of the development in a tweet on Thursday.

A qualifier will join India and Pakistan in their group. In the second group, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan will all be defending champions.
Like last year, the top two teams from each group will move on to the Super Four stage of the tournament. The competition will go back to the ODI format for the 2023 edition.
Pakistan is supposed to host the tournament, but it is likely to be moved to a neutral location.
It’s important to remember that Pakistani cricket officials hinted in October of last year that they might not go to the World Cup in India next year. This was a day after Indian officials said they wouldn’t send a team to the Asia Cup in Pakistan in 2023.
Jay Shah, the secretary of the Indian cricket board, said that India “can’t” send a team to Pakistan. He also said that the tournament would be moved to a neutral location.
Pakistan was surprised by his news, and officials there said it could “split” the cricket community around the world.
The PCB said that Shah’s comments “can affect Pakistan’s trip to India for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and future ICC events in India in the years 2024-2031.”
The Pakistan board said that it hasn’t heard anything official from the ACC, but that it was given the right to host the 2023 Asia Cup while Shah was in charge.
India and Pakistan are considered to have one of the best rivalries in sports, but they haven’t played each other on their home turf since 2012. Instead, they only play each other in international tournaments on neutral grounds.
