- Maryam Nawaz has left for Geneva to undergo surgery

LONDON: PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Sharif has left for the Swiss city of Geneva from London where she will undergo surgery.
This was confirmed was Information Minister Mariyum Aurangzeb. Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif also accompanied her.
“She will return to Pakistan in the 3rd week of January to assume her new responsibilities as Chief Organizer,” she added.

It had been earlier reported that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz left for Geneva form London and are expected to stay for a week. Two more family members have also gone to Geneva along with Nawaz Sharif, sources revealed.
It was stated that Nawaz Sharif’s physician is also staying in Geneva and is expected to meet him. The former premier is also expected to have a few personal meetings, sources added.
A day earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appointed Maryam Nawaz as the senior vice president of the PML-N and authorized her to “reorganize” the party at all functional levels.
In a series of tweets, Maryam Nawaz said she is grateful to PMLN supremo Nawaz Sharif and party president Shehbaz Sharif for the confidence they have shown in her.
Maryam said she is looking forward to working with her party colleagues to organize and strengthen PMLN according to the vision of Nawaz Sharif under the able guidance of Shehbaz Sharif.
Maryam Nawaz said she will visit and meet party office-bearers and workers across Pakistan to effectively fulfill this daunting task.
“We will adopt modern techniques and make improvements where needed to ensure PMLN remains best equipped to continue successfully serving the people of Pakistan,” she added.
