The Colombian Madrigal family is depicted in the 2021 animated film Encanto as being “wonderful and magical,” hidden in the “Encanto” during the early 1900s. Bruno is one of the family members who has been given special abilities (John Leguizamo). However, the undesirable effects of his magical ability forced him to dwell among the rats, who served as his “telenovela” cast to keep him company.
