Anthony Rapp is expressing his deep gratitude to a particular individual who made his dream of becoming a father a reality. The 51-year-old Star Trek: Discovery actor posted a lovely collection of professional images of himself and fiancé Ken Ithiphol posing with their gestational surrogate, Nikki, who was then pregnant, on Saturday. (The couple welcomed their son Rai Larson on December 2, and Nikki carried him.
“Without mentioning one of the biggest highlights of our year, Ken and I couldn’t end 2022. We had the utmost honour and pleasure getting to know Nikki, our gestational surrogate, and sharing many special and happy moments with her “Rapp began his caption on the post, which included images of Nikki flaunting her growing belly, including one in which the expectant fathers were seen placing their hands on her belly.
The actor continued, “Nikki and her family have dramatically altered our lives, and she is genuinely one of the most wonderful and awe-inspiring human beings we have ever met.”
“Ken and I feel so lucky and are forever thankful. 💙,” Rapp concluded.
Three days after Rai’s birth, Rapp shared the first snapshot of the three of them on Instagram to mark his arrival.
The Rent star began his caption, “Ken and I are happy to share that our family has increased.
“Rai Larson Ithiphol, our son, was born on Friday, December 2, 2022, thanks to an exceptionally kind surrogate, for whom we will always be grateful. Rai is pronounced similarly to rye or chai.” Rapp penned. “We adore him dearly.”
Friends and fans expressed their affection for the pair in the comments area. Ethan Peck, Rapp’s Star Trek co-star, wrote: “Congratulations!”
“HALLELUJAH !! Welcome home, Rai!” his fellow Rent original Broadway cast member Daphne Rubin-Vega commented, while Lauren Lapkus wrote, “Congratulations!!”
Following nearly four years of dating, Rapp proposed to Ithiphol, a leadership coach, social researcher, and advocate. The happy couple announced their engagement in November 2019.

With the premiere of the Off-Broadway rock musical adaption of his 2006 autobiography Without You: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and the Musical Rent, at New World Stages on January 14, Rapp revealed in November that he has another child on the way.
With music by Rapp and his late friend and Rent creator Jonathan Larson, the play describes his connection with his mother at the time he made his Broadway debut in Rent back in 1996.
