SLC appointed Chris Clarke-Irons as Lead Physiotherapist of national team

Chris Clarke-Irons, a former physiotherapist for the England men’s team, will take over as physiotherapist for the Sri Lanka men’s cricket team for a two-year period following the tour of India.

Chris Clarke-Irons will begin serving as the national team’s lead physiotherapist on January 1, 2023, according to a statement released by Sri Lanka Cricket on Sunday.

Before joining Sri Lanka Cricket, Clarke-Irons served as the Head of Science and Medicine and Lead Physiotherapist for the Essex County Cricket Club in the United Kingdom. He holds a BSc (Hons) degree in physiotherapy from the University of East London and an MSc in Advanced Physiotherapy from Kings College, London.

He also served as the physiotherapist for the ECB’s senior men’s pace programme and the England men’s team during an ODI tour of Australia.

The tour of India 2022-2023, which begins on Sunday for a T20I and ODI series, would be Chris Clarke-Irons’ first official trip with the Sri Lanka national side.

The first of the three T20I matches will be played at the Wankhede Stadium here on Tuesday. Matches will also be played in Rajkot (Jan. 5) and Pune (Jan. (Jan 7).

The three ODIs will be held in Thiruvananthapuram (Jan. 12), Thiruvananthapuram (Jan. 10), and Guwahati (Jan. (Jan 15).
