The Foo Fighters declared they will carry on as a group following Taylor Hawkins‘ passing in March.
The band thanked “the people that we love and cherish the most, and for the loved ones who are no longer with us” on social media on Saturday as they reflected on the “most difficult and heartbreaking year that our band has ever known.”
The Foo Fighters, who came together for the first time 27 years ago, said they wanted to “express the healing power of music and a continuation of life.”
“And over the past 27 years, our fans have created a global community, a dedicated support network that has always helped us all get through the toughest moments together,” they continued. a location where we can come together to sing the chorus of life via music, sharing our joy and grief, dreams, and anxieties.
“Without Taylor, we would never have developed into the band that we are today, and without Taylor, we are aware that we will change as a band moving ahead.”
The band added, “When we see you again — and we will soon – he’ll be there in spirit with all of us every night,” acknowledging that Hawkins “meant as much” to the fans.
The announcement from The Foo Fighters comes nine months after they postponed their global tour to express their condolences for the loss of their drummer, who was 50 at the time of his passing.
The band posted on its social media accounts, “It is with tremendous grief that Foo Fighters confirm the postponement of all upcoming tour dates in light of the tragic loss of our brother Taylor Hawkins.”
“We regret not being able to meet up as scheduled and feel your disappointment. Instead, let’s use this time to mourn, heal, cling to our loved ones, and cherish the music and memories we’ve shared. The Foo Fighters, with love.
Prior to the band’s concert in Bogota, Colombia, Hawkins was discovered unconscious in his hotel room.
Before retiring to his hotel room by alone, he reportedly complained of chest symptoms.
The artist had an enlarged heart muscle, which could have caused cardiac arrest, according to Colombian officials. At the time of his death, he also had ten different medicines in his system.
Alison, Hawkins’ wife, and their three kids all survived him.
