The PCB Management Committee has decided to discontinue the Pakistan Junior League (PJL),According to a press release published on Saturday.
However, in order to provide a pathway for high-performing youngsters and to ensure that the country continues to create excellent cricketers of all ages, it was agreed to reinstate the junior series on a home and away basis.
It was also agreed to hold talks with the Pakistan Super League franchises about including one Under-19 player in the playing lineups under their Emerging Categories.
It should be noted that the inaugural season of the Pakistan Premier League was held earlier this year, with Bahawalpur Royals defeating Gwadar Sharks in the final to claim the title.
The management committee, led by Najam Sethi, also made key decisions about departmental cricket throughout the country.
“In accordance with the PCB Constitution 2014, the PCB Management Committee held a lengthy debate on the restoration of the Regional and District Cricket Associations and Departments/Service Organizations,” the PCB said in a press release.
“Following detailed discussions, it was announced Regional and District Cricket Associations and Departments/Service Organisations stand restored and a strategic plan will now be prepared to include them formally in the domestic cricket structure, including participation in the PCB Board of Governors in due course.
