KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Saturday announced that there is no ban on pillion riding in Karachi on New Year’s eve.

The announcement came after a notification was issued by commissioner Karachi regarding a ban on pillion riding.

The notification said that the ban has been imposed immediately that will stay till January 2.

However, the information minister has said that this year there is no ban on pillion riding on December 31.

He also said that there must be no aerial firing, no blockages of roads and no one wheeling. “Your security is our utmost priority.”

Earlier, the announcement that came from commissioner Karachi not only banned pillion riding on motorbikes but also said that the carrying and displaying of arms is completely banned at the occasion.

“Those violating the law will be dealt with strictly and will be booked under section 188 by the city’s police.”
