- Voters await outside stations for LG polls Islamabad
- Despite IHC orders, polling stations are still closed
- ECP filed an intra-court appeal against IHC decision
ISLAMABAD: Following the Islamabad High Court (IHC) decision, the Islamabad local government (LG) polls were supposed to take place today (December 31) but the polling stations remain barren with no staff present for the voters waiting outside the stations.
Despite the IHC orders, the polling stations are still closed and the voters have been awaiting outside to cast their votes.
A large number of voters have been waiting in queues outside the polling stations in Islamabad.
On the other hand, the ECP has filed an intra-court appeal against the IHC decision to hold the LG polls in Islamabad today.
ECP has nominated PTI and JI as respondents in the appeal which will be heard shortly.
Yesterday, the IHC ordered to have LG polls in Islamabad as per schedule on December 31.
On the other hand, PTI is to file a contempt of court plea against ECP in case of violating the order of the Islamabad High Court regarding holding local bodies elections in the federal capital.
