Peta Murgatroyd announced that her father, Derek John Murgatroyd, passed away on Thursday at the age of 81. She is now in grieving.
“My teddy bear, to The Greatest Dad. The “Dancing With the Stars” pro said in the caption of an Instagram post, which included images of her holding her father’s hand in a hospital bed and the two of them enjoying a boat ride, “This is the conclusion of our ride earth side.”
Oh, how I wished we could go on this boat journey once more. We shall in the next life. You two were so delighted to be at sea, where you were always supposed to be, as you shared this lovely glance.
“But I know you will continue to travel with me till I see you again,” Peta continued. I hope these 36 years have brought you joy. You were my entire world, and I will miss you until the end of my time on earth.
The 36-year-old founder of Peta Jane Beauty vowed to “keep the warmth” of her dad’s hand “in my heart forever.”
As you would say, I’ll always be your ‘darling baby girl. Until the 12th of never, I will love you. Always Daddy’s Girl,” she said in conclusion.
Peta didn’t reveal Derek’s cause of death or how he passed away.
Several of Peta’s “DWTS” coworkers expressed their condolences in the comments section of her post following her announcement.
“Won’t soon forget our time at the jazz club with him. Pure bliss and excitement,” Jenna Johnson wrote.
