MUZAFFARABAD: Muzaffarabad Commissioner Masoodur Rehman on Thursday said all the tourists stranded at Pir Chinasi tourist destination had been brought to Siran Tourist Rest House.
The commissioner said volunteers of Muzaffarabad Jeep Club and officials of the SDMA, Rescue 1122 rescued the 233 tourists stuck in snowfall in their vehicles. He said all the tourists were out of danger now. They were taken to their staying places, he maintained adding that six of the tourists were Sri Lankans.
Masoodur Rehman said food and hot drinks were being provided to the tourists. He said the local residents also greatly helped the tourists.
The Muzaffarabad deputy commissioner, SSP and secretary SDMA were also present on this occasion.

More than 200 tourists were stranded in Pir Chinasi, a tourist destination, near Muzaffarabad on Thursday because of snow.
Bol News quoting police sources as saying that about 30 vehicles of tourists were stuck as roads got slippery because of snowfall.
“In bad weather, vehicles in mountain terrains become inoperable near Pir Chinasi. Machinery is not available at the tourist destination, therefore the chained machinery was dispatched,” said police.
On October 26, President Dr Arif Alvi launched the commercial helicopter flight operations of Kashmir Air in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) as part of an effort to promote tourism in the region.
