On Thursday, leg-spinner Rashid Khan was chosen to lead Afghanistan in T20 international matches. Rashid takes over for veteran off-spin all-rounder Mohammad Nabi, who resigned from his position following the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022.

Rashid, who has played for Afghanistan in 74 T20I matches so far, is the third-highest wicket-taker in the division, after only Bangladesh left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hassan (134) and New Zealand pacer Tim Southee (134). (128).
