Niagara Falls covered spectacle after winter storm

  • A Christmas blizzard coated Niagara Falls in snow and ice.
  • A Canadian ice climber shocked observers by scaling a frozen valley in 2015.
  • Slightly warmer weather is now on the way.

After a massive winter storm swept over the United States, the base of Niagara Falls was covered in snow and ice, and chunks of ice could be seen hanging from the rocks.

The precipitation and freezing conditions that occurred over the Christmas holiday transformed the waterfalls into a beautiful winter scene to behold.

The blizzard caused widespread destruction across North America and was responsible for the deaths of 34 persons in the state of New York.

The city of Buffalo, which is located just south of the falls, was responsible for a significant number of the fatalities.

The blizzard dropped more than 1.2 meters (almost 4 feet) of snow on the city, which resulted in significant disruptions to traffic and left many homes without power.

Slightly warmer weather is now on the way.

In spite of the frozen sections, one could still hear the crashing of cascades of water as they descended the falls.

A Canadian ice climber managed to scale a frozen portion of the gorge in 2015, much to the astonishment of the tourists that were there.
