KARACHI: Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh has ordered a strict crackdown on fancy number plates, tinted glasses, and police siren lights on vehicles.
The police chief has decided to form a joint team of District Police, Traffic Police and Excise officials. The joint team has been named JCP team, police officials said.
The JCP team will include ten officials and experts from the district police, traffic police and excise department and will be overseen by a District Police Officer (DPO) level officer.
Police have also picked JCP points for stringent checking across the city. District SSP has sent a letter to excise authorities for the formation of the joint team.
The joint team will conduct extensive points for three hours in the morning and three hours in the evening, the letter said.
The searches have been initially started at five locations in Central District. Police said disciplinary action will be taken even if a police officer or official is involved in any violation.
