Jeremiah Green has been told that his cancer is in a late stage.

Carol Namatame, the 45-year-old rocker’s mother, posted a message on her Facebook on Christmas Day asking people to “send healing vibes” to her son, “who is fighting stage 4 cancer,” but she didn’t say what kind.

“He’s so brave and strong and still holding on!” she wrote.

Later that day, Seattle radio host Marco Collins also posted on Facebook about Green’s diagnosis: “Just found out my friend Jeremiah Green of Modest Mouse has pulled out of the band’s tour because he is currently getting chemo treatments to fight Stage 4 cancer.”

“Even though he has stage 4 cancer, his outlook is good!” he said. “His oncologist is a big fan of [Modest Mouse], so he has that going for him. Only love and healing energy are being sent his way. Get well buddy. We all want you to do well.”

Modest Mouse’s 25th anniversary tour for The Lonesome Crowded West ended Dec. 20 in Washington, D.C. Fan videos show Green still performing at their Dec. 1 Los Angeles gig.

In March, Modest Mouse will play Lollapalooza in Chile, Argentina, and Brazil.

Green has been Modest Mouse’s drummer since 1992, when he helped found the band. Only “Good News for People Who Love Bad News” (2004) lacks him. He took a year off after a nervous breakdown in 2003.

Isaac Brock told NME in July that Modest Mouse was producing new music. In 2021, they released The Golden Casket.

“Seven new tunes,” he said. “After we finished our last album, everyone kept wondering, “Why do albums take so long?” Because I’m busy! Not all are good, but whatever. I don’t want to answer that question, so I’ve kept track.”
