India plans to deploy more than a hundred ballistic missiles near its borders along its borders.

This report follows New Delhi’s assertions that Indian and Chinese forces clashed in a contested Himalayan region earlier this month.

A senior defence official informed the publication, “A high-level conference of the Defense Ministry approved the acquisition of around 120 missiles for the Armed Forces and their deployment along the borders.”

This report follows New Delhi’s assertions that Indian and Chinese forces clashed in a contested Himalayan region earlier this month.

The armaments in question are Pralay missiles developed domestically. The Indian military tested the tactical short-range quasi-ballistic devices with success a year ago.

According to reports, they are capable of striking targets between 150 and 500 kilometers away and are difficult for air defenses to intercept due to directional shifts during flight.

The agency described the reported development as a “important decision” for the nation, which now permits the tactical employment of ballistic missiles.

China and Pakistan, India’s neighbors and geopolitical competitors, are both nuclear states with ballistic missile arsenals. Nepal also borders India. Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.

Early in December, the Defense Ministry in New Delhi reported short skirmishes between Indian and Chinese border guards in the Himalayan state of Arunachal Pradesh. The incident resulted in six injured Indian military personnel, according to the ministry. It accused Beijing, which did not confirm the incident, of attempting to unilaterally alter the status quo in the Himalayan border region.
