Bollywood actor Salman Khan is the second most followed person on Twitter with around 40 million followers, and rumours indicated that his account had been hacked.
According to reports, the hacker allegedly took control of the accounts of numerous other well-known individuals, including American artist Charlie Puth and Google CEO Sundar Pichai.
Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, has reportedly been offered a bargain by the hackers, who assert to have obtained the data of close to 400 million Twitter users.
Huge amounts of data, including email and phone numbers, had been breached and sold on the dark web, according to intelligence group Hudson Rock. Additionally, it posted images of the Twitter post where the hacker disclosed details regarding the data loss.
The hacker stated in his post, “I am offering data of +400 million unique Twitter users that were scraped via a vulnerability, this data is absolutely confidential.
If Elon Musk or Twitter are reading this, they already run the danger of GDPR fines due to the exposure of the personal information of over 54 million people. Now there will be consequences for the 400 million customer data leak, the post stated.
“Buying this data entirely is your best choice to avoid paying $2.76 million in CDPR breach charges like Facebook did (due to 533 million users being destroyed),” it continued.
