LAHORE: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested seven terror suspects during a major operation in Punjab.
CTD spokesperson said that the operation was carried out in the wake of the recent wave of terrorism.
The spokesman said that the arrested terrorists were identified as Khalid Mehmood, Mohsin Waqar, Muhammad Usman, Sher Muhammad, Luqman Rafiq and Farooq, from whose possession explosive materials, arms and prohibited literature were recovered.
He also said that the accused have been involved in planning terrorism in sensitive cities of the province.
Pertinently, a terror attempt was foiled in Islamabad yesterday when a vehicle was stopped by the cops and the suicide bomber inside blew himself up.
Resultantly, four cops were martyred while several others were injured in the blast.
Following the blast, security measures were beefed up in all major cities of Pakistan and all entry and exit points are being scrutinized closely.
PM Shehbaz Sharif while taking notice of the incident said that all such powers working against Pakistan’s stability will be dealt with.
