LAHORE: The political temperature in Punjab province has been rising and Governor Rule is on the cards as Chief Minister Punjab Pervaiz Elahi didn’t take the vote of confidence yesterday.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah while addressing the media today said that constitutionally Elahi is no longer CM Punjab and hinted at Hamza Shehbaz taking over the slot.

Earlier, Governor Baligh ur Rehman summoned a session for the vote of confidence that was rejected by the Speaker terming it illegal and unconstitutional.

Speaker of Punjab Assembly Sibtain Khan issued a ruling that no session could be called until the previous session is underway. In response, Baligh ur Rehman declared Speaker’s ruling unconstitutional.

On the other hand, Speaker Punjab Assembly Sibtain Khan has written a letter to the President requesting him to remove Governor Baligh ur Rehman for misconduct.

Notably, On behalf of Imran Khan, a meeting of PTI’s parliamentary party has been called today in which the members will express confidence in the Chief Minister of Punjab.

Moreover, Rana Sanaullah while talking to the media today said that Pervaiz Elahi is no longer CM Punjab as he failed to take the vote of confidence yesterday adding that the Governor will shortly denotify Elahi.

“If the CM fails to take the vote of confidence then his position won’t remain the same,” he added.
