- Butler says they also undertake second present exchange on Christmas.

The royals are known to exchange gifts on Christmas Eve at Sandringham, but a former royal butler says they also undertake a second present exchange on Christmas morning, with children receiving gifts from Santa.
In just a few days, the royals will arrive in Sandringham with gifts for the annual Christmas gathering.
The complete family, including the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, will be hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla, and they will undoubtedly exchange gifts.
It’s long been known that the royals exchange fun, inexpensive gifts on Christmas Eve rather than on Christmas Day.
This present exchange is supposed to take place at 6 p.m. after they have had their afternoon tea – and the late Prince Philip used to be in charge of the proceedings.
However, according to royal butler Grant Harrold, who served for Charles and Camilla at Highgrove for seven years, it may not be the only royal gift exchange of the holiday season.
He believes Prince William and Kate always give each other substantial gifts, and that the children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, like other children, get their treats for Santa Claus on Christmas morning.
“With the actual Christmas presents, I’ve been told they offer entertaining items because what do you give a royal who has everything?” he stated to the repued Institue.
“But I also believe they also give each other nice gifts because even though they do the fun thing, the younger royals for example like William and Catherine, will give each other nice gifts to each other at Christmas, I have no doubt about that at all.
“I also like to think that on Christmas Day the kids will have Father Christmas come and they will get traditional presents under the tree, I think that’s probably when you will find that’s when the serious presents will be given to each other. “And I do think they give serious things but unfortunately I don’t know what unless we maybe see Catherine wearing some new jewellery or something like that.
“When I see her in a new necklace or something, I often wonder if it’s a Christmas gift but we never really know unless they tell us.”
