- Kody Brown, who is now officially down to one wife, says he thought about rekindling his relationship with Meri.
- One on One episode aired on Sunday, and Meri, 51, confirmed her 32-year marriage to Kody, 53, had ended.
- Meri watches a clip of Kody saying he doesn’t consider himself married to her with host Sukanya Krishnan.
“If she wanted to move on and marry another, she wouldn’t get into an argument with me,” he confesses to cameras. Kody discusses a time when he considered saving the relationship in Sunday’s full episode.
“I was trying to reconcile with Meri,” Kody explains. “And Meri gave me this really cool birthday present, and I’m here telling Janelle, Christine, and Robyn that I’m thinking about reconciling with Meri.”
Rice Krispies treats were the “really cool” present.
“She put them in a bag, one for each year of our marriage,” Kody says of the gesture. “She even included the bad years, when I was like, ‘We’re basically not really married,’ and the expression was sweet, and the mood that I was in was the right mood to think about reconciliation.”
“I was no longer angry with her for what had happened in my life with her,” he continues. “I was willing to see the error of my ways and then work to see if we were still good with each other.”
Even after his moment of forgiveness, Kody explains why they have no hope: “Relationships are strained. It’s as simple as that.”
His divorce from Meri comes just a few months after Kody and Janelle Brown announced their split, and a year after Christine Brown and Kody announced their divorce after more than 25 years of marriage. Only Robyn Brown, Kody’s “favourite” wife in the eyes of the others, remains married to him.
Meri, on the other hand, expresses how shaken she is by the emotional situation.
