‘The Drop,’ Sarah Adina Smith’s upcoming dark comedy releases a new trailer, which will be available on Hulu on January 13 has been released by the streaming service.
Lex (Anna Konkle) experienced that unfortunate experience; not many people have, unfortunately.
When a party of visitors arrive at a tropical island, it is revealed in the trailer that it is time to start the music. Lex and Mani (Jermaine Fowler) know just what to do. They are happy with their lives and their work, and they now want to start a family.
The vacation is provided by a friend’s wedding on a tropical island, where it may be possible to complete the act while catching up with old pals.
However, as you probably already suspected, things don’t exactly go as planned. Lex inadvertently drops a friend’s baby, but don’t worry—everything is well with the infant.
The buddies immediately focus on having fun in paradise following the accident and receiving word that the baby is fine. But given their strong beginning, can they?
Lex is being questioned about if she really wants to have a kid while on a boat gliding through open sea. Given her prior behaviour, this seems like a reasonable topic to ask. Differences in family ideals cause rifts to form amongst the pals, and soon uncomfortable realities between them all start to emerge.
While all of this is going on, Lex needs to be pardoned for her serious mistake. In addition to negatively affecting the baby’s mother, her actions unintentionally put a great deal of strain on her relationship with Mani, and tension between the two starts to show. So that everyone can properly experience paradise, the couple and the rest of the party must now make their way back to one another.
The Drop was directed and written by Smith, with Joshua Leonard contributing to the script as well. Jay and Mark Duplass are the film’s executive producers.
The Drop’s ensemble also features Jillian Bell, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Robin Thede, Aparna Nancherla, Joshua Leonard, Jennifer Lafleur, and Elisha Henig in addition to Konkle and Fowler.
On January 13, The Drop will make its world premiere exclusively on Hulu.
Below is a synopsis and the trailer for the movie.
The Drop synopsis below:
“Lex (Anna Konkle) and Mani (Jermaine Fowler) are a happily married young couple, running their dream artisanal bakery in Los Angeles and excited about starting a family together. A trip to a tropical island resort for a friend’s destination wedding, coinciding with Lex’s ovulation cycle, feels like the perfect opportunity to conceive. But good vibes and high hopes are cut short when, shortly after their arrival to paradise, Lex accidentally drops her friend’s (Aparna Nancherla) baby in front of all their friends. Paradise becomes purgatory for our couple as recriminations, passive-aggression and old wounds begin to permeate the island reunion and throw Mani and Lex’s future into deep uncertainty.”
