Ish Sodhi, a leg-spinner, has been chosen to be a member of the 15-man team that will represent New Zealand in the upcoming two-Test series that will take place in Pakistan.
New Zealand coach Gary Stead stated of the three players’ selection, “I know all three of the boys have a tremendous love for the longest form of the game and are looking forward to getting into their red-ball practise at the pre-tour camp in Lincoln this week.”
According to the Blackcaps coach, Sodhi’s inclusion is based on the present conditions and style of play in the Test series between Pakistan and England.
Following Kane Williamson’s announcement that he would be standing down as Test captain, Tim Southee will lead the team on their maiden tour with Southee at the helm.
Trent Boult, on the other hand, was left from the team because he declined to participate in the tour. Since Kyle Jamieson is still nursing a back issue, he was left off the roster as well.
The Kiwis’ coach expressed excitement at the thought of returning to Pakistan to play Test cricket for the first time since 2003.
On December 19, the team that will compete in the upcoming one-day series will be selected.
