For the season 15 supersized premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race, the pop princess is returning as a guest judge. Alongside stalwart judges Michelle Visage, Ross Mathews, and RuPaul for both episodes of the Jan. 6 double premiere, the Grammy winner, who previously served on the judges’ panel during season seven, will offer criticism.
In a teaser posted to the Drag Race social media accounts, fans get their first glimpse of Grande as she makes her return. Sporting a bejeweled cone bra and a pencil skirt, the singer struts down the runway and announces, “Season 15 is here, and so am I.”
With the series revealing on December 13 that the newest instalment would have the largest ensemble ever as well as the highest reward ever, the new season is definitely off to a “Bang Bang.” 16 queens, including Sasha Colby, a pageant legend, and the Sugar and Spice twins, who are well-known on TikTok, will compete for a record $200,000 under Grande’s supervision.
The popular series is seeing other changes as well. The series will now lip sync for its life at MTV for its sixteenth season, making it the Emmy-winning program’s third home. (Drag Race seasons one through eight aired on Logo, while seasons nine through fourteen were broadcast on VH1). Additionally, RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked, which features deleted scenes and talks between the queens that were never broadcast, will move to MTV.
