Salma Hayek gets into the fairytale spirit by wearing a ballgown

  • Salma Hayek celebrated her 56th birthday three months ago.
  • She said she was astonished to get the role of Ajak in Marvel’s Eternals in her 50s.
  • Salma is married to François-Henri Pinault and has a daughter named Valentina, 15.

On December 13 at the Lincoln Center in New York City, Salma Hayek experienced her very own contemporary Cinderella moment. In an icy blue ballgown by Alexander McQueen with shimmers, the actress floated down the red carpet. The stunning gown had a sheer bustier bodice that was covered in sequins, rhinestones, and beads and had matching sheer cap sleeves. The voluminous skirt was softly pleated. (It is unknown if she was wearing glass slippers below.)

Salma finished off the princess look with a sparkling pale blue statement ring. The Frida actress blended a smokey eye and a deep pink lip into her makeup and wore her dark hair down, wavy, and split down the middle.

Salma voices Kitty Softpaws, a street-smart Tuxedo cat who is Puss’ female counterpart and love interest in the new animated picture, which will be released in theatres on December 21. Salma will appear with Antonio Banderas.

At the premiere, Antonio joined his co-star on the red carpet in a maroon turtleneck sweater wrapped beneath a cool dark blue moto jacket and accessorised with black slacks and sneakers.

“She a very dear friend,” the 62-year-old actor gushed on the Dec. 13 episode of Salma, who he first met on the set of their 1995 film Desperado and have since starred in five movies together. “It’s a real friendship.”

Salma celebrated her 56th birthday three months prior to the fairytale fashion evening. The actress danced about on a boat to Stevie Wonder’s 1981 song “Happy Birthday” while rocking a red hot bikini in a video that was released to Instagram on September 2.

In a recent interview, she discussed the ageing process in Hollywood and said she was astonished to get the role of Ajak in Marvel’s Eternals.

“I was shocked to get that role in my 50s,” she told AARP in 2021. “I felt a sense of gratitude and excitement, not only for this but for what it meant about the possibilities for the future,” she said.

She continued, “Growing old, to me, has to do with repetition. Something gets old when you’ve done it for a long time. If you’re always changing, if you’re always curious, how can you be old? You’re someone new today.”

In the eagerly awaited movie Magic Mike’s Last Dance, Salma—who has been married to François-Henri Pinault since 2009 and has a daughter named Valentina, 15—plays Channing Tatum’s love interest.

“Look, I’m not going to complain,” she told a leading magazine about her role. “On an average day, I had to work with 12 strippers. Not one, not two—12. It was still hard work.”
