KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday ordered the prosecutor general and IG Sindh to present a final report regarding the cases on PTI leader Azam Swati in the controversial tweet case.

A hearing was held in the SHC today on the petition submitted by Usman Swati – son of Azam Swati – to end the cases on the PTI Senator.

IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, DIG South and others appeared in the court.

On the occasion, IG Sindh apologized before the court for his arguments in the previous hearing saying that his statements gave a wrong impression.

The court inquired about the cases on Azam Swati to which the prosecutor general said that cases against him have been registered in different districts of the province.

“Cases against Swati have been classified as ‘C’ class,” he informed the court.

IG Sindh maintained that the cases against the PTI leader have been quashed on the basis of the unavailability of significant evidence.

The court instructed to submit a final report on the disposal of cases on Azam Swati within three days.

On the other hand, the PTI Senator has been transferred to Islamabad from Sukkur, sources revealed.
