ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday rejected the petition seeking the disqualification of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Faryal Talpur.

The commission had reserved the verdict on October 27.

The petition to disqualify Faryal Talpur from Sindh Assembly was filed by PTI Sindh chapter leaders in the ECP over allegedly concealing her assets.

The petition maintained that the PPP leader should be disqualified under Article 62 of the Constitution as she failed to declare details of her assets before the ECP, which means she is no longer ‘Sadiq and Ameen’.

On the other hand, Sindh police quashed all cases registered against PTI Senator Azam Swati in the Larkana division.

Azam Swati’s son Usman Swati reached the High Court Sukkur bench where he filed a petition against the arrest of his father and quash the cases.

As per details, the cases filed against Azam Swati in Larkana, Qamber Shahdadkot, Shikarpur, and Kashmore have been closed.
